A graduate of Loyola University New Orleans, Michael Ikossi holds a bachelor of arts in language and culture with a concentration in French and a minor in criminal justice. In addition to spending a semester abroad at the University of Grenoble, France, Michael Ikossi was an active member of Pi Delta Phi, the French Honor Society with 370 chapters throughout the United States.
Admitted to the Association of College Honor Societies in 1967, Pi Delta Phi is open to undergraduate and graduate students who have demonstrated outstanding scholarship in the areas of French language and literature. The nonprofit organization offers several scholarships to facilitate summer study for eligible students, including the Mary E. Gutermuth Award. Given in honor of the former executive director of Pi Delta Phi, the scholarship funds a full summer session at the University of Québec at Chicoutim, including tuition, room and board, and activity fees. Additionally, scholarships recipients are eligible for a travel grant from Pi Delta Phi to cover up to $500 in transportation costs.
